The 24th annual Boomsday Festival has evolved into Knoxville’s signature event, bringing more than 400,000 visitors to Knoxville’s riverfront for all-American food, a kids’ play area, live music, and the biggest boom in the nation for one highly anticipated night each year.
Such is the popularity of Boomsday that National Geographic once filmed it for a special feature. Prior to the highlight, live entertainment cheers the crowd from early afternoon, then at 9.30pm tons of fireworks blast off from Henley Street Bridge over the Tennessee River for a 30-minute show of pyrotechnic firepower.
