Wow, disgruntled B&B owner!!
Tuesday, October 13th, 2009Well I felt compelled to write this in my blog today as I woke up this morning, checked my emails and was shocked by an email I received! My website is for families of 5 or more to find accommodation (2 adults & 3 children or more). I decided early on that I wouldn’t include babies in that scenario as there are lots of hotels that don’t mind adding a travel cot to their rooms as they don’t take up that much room and a lot of parents have them with them but places that accept 3 children(excluding babies) are much harder to find.
A property called ‘Les Chenes Chambre d’hote’ in Auvergne, France was posted on my website by a lady called Gillian advertising accommodation for families of 5. The ad doesn’t go live straight away, I have to ok it to make sure it really can sleep a family of 5. I queried her ad as she had stated that her accommodation included a double room and 2 single rooms and I asked her where the 5th person would sleep. She replied by informing me the 5th person would sleep on a ‘lit depliant’ or a baby cot, in any of the rooms. I replied to her with this email:
Hi Gillian, thanks for clarifying that. Unfortunately I’m looking for hotels/guetshouses that can accommodate at least 2 adults and 3 children (not including babies) as there are quite of hotels that have a family room to sleep 4 and don’t mind adding a travel cot free of charge. Its the extra bed for the 3rd child that is the problem. Its a shame as your ‘apartment’ sounds great.
Kind Regards
Drina
Polite enough I thought and explained why I wouldn’t be adding her property to the site, so you can imagine my surprise when I awoke this morning to this email:
Hi
Well i think you are an utter fool! and i am astonished by your
narrow minded ness
I’ve been a B & B owner for 20 years and more in France
and I have always had loads of families, French Belgium and English,
Families are my speciality !
My price is excellent as it includes breakfast and is most welcome
by families.
I accommodate families up to 6 and most of them have babies, or small
children and even if they have to sleep on a lit depliant , children are
free up to 3 years old!
You are making a mistake by having too narrow a view on accommodation
bye bye have a nice life and remember word of mouth goes everywhere
and i surely won’t recommend your site to the hundreds of families who
pass through here
Gillian Degnan
Wow, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed!! I didn’t think her email warranted a reply.
