Rickwood Field - 1137 Second Avenue West

Built in 1910 for in the city’s then-professional baseball team, the Coal Barons, Rickwood Field is being restored to look the way it did in its 1940s heyday, all the way down to the hand-operated scoreboard. Wearing old-time uniforms, the Birmingham Barons play the annual Rickwood Classic. Baseball greats who played at Rickwood include Babe Ruth, Rogers Hornsby, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb and Birmingham’s own Burleigh Grimes, the last legal spitball pitcher in the big leagues. Rickwood was also home to the Birmingham Black Barons Negro League team, which brought the likes of Satchel Paige, Piper Davis and local teenage phenomenon Willie Mays to play here.

The Southern Museum of Flight is dedicated to presenting civilian, military, and experimental aircraft and memorabilia from the earliest history of powered flight. The Georgian Lodge in Bradford on Avon is approximately 12 miles away from Longleat and can sleep up to a family of 6!!

The Beeches Farmhouse in Bradford on Avon is approximately 12 miles away from Longleat, they have 2 inter-connecting rooms(Old Dairy & Cart House) that sleep up to 6 people. The rooms are not in the Farmhouse but in converted farmbuildings so guests enjoy privacy. Price includes breakfast.

Beechfield House in Beanacre is approximately 15 miles away from Longleat, their family room consists of one superking size bed and one single bed but can accommodate up to five guests with additional folding beds.

The Old Rectory in Lacock is approximately 17 miles from Longleat, their family room sleeps 5 and consists of a four poster double bed with 2 singles and a z bed. It is ensuite with tea and coffee tray, TV and breakfast included.

With over 30 nuts rides, THORPE PARK is the place to get your adrenaline pumping!

Thorpe park do a family ticket for 4 with a saving of £18 and discounts for groups of 7 or more but unfortunately families of 5 or 6 miss out again, surprise, surprise.

Although we have no properties in Chertsey at the moment we do have properties near:

Cobham Lodge in Cobham is situated just 5 minutes from the M25.  It is only approx 9 miles from Thorpe Park.  It is also 35 minutes from Gatwick and just 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport, Cobham Lodge is a conveniently and perfectly positioned base for people catching next day flights or requiring an overnight stop.

Their family room can sleep up to 5 people and consists of a double bed, single bed and a pull out sofa.

The rest of the properties in Surrey on Room for 5 are in Horley, close to Gatwick Airport. These properties are approximately 3o miles from Thorpe Park.

Rainworth House which  is situated two miles from the town of royal Windsor. It is set in 3 acres of grounds and is surrounded by trees and open fields. It can sleep up to 5.

The Windsor Trooper is a classic public house perfectly located within a short walk of Windsor Castle and the town centre and can sleep up to 6!
They are fantastically located for Legoland – please ask about their package accomodation deals and save almost half price on the cost of your Legoland entrance tickets!

Bluebell House is an ex coaching Inn is situated between Windsor and Ascot and close to Bracknell and Maidenhead. They are a family friendly guest house and can offer a 2 bedroom family suite where they can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.

How about the Porth Avallen Hotel in St Austell, it has a spectacular cliff top location and stunning 180″ sea view over St Austell Bay, The Porth Avallen Hotel is the ideal place to stay and explore Cornwall’s many attractions.. .

Why not try the Ocean Lodge in Newquay, it can sleep up to a whopping 8 people and is very reasonably priced. There is a minimum stay of two nights though.

The Quies Hotel in Newquay can sleep up to 7 in inter-connecting rooms and is again reasonable priced and only a 2 minute walk from Newquay town centre.

The Oak Tree Farm Hotel in Tamworth can sleep 5 or more. The rooms at oaktree start from £85 per night for families, if 5 plus - they can accommodate 2 double beds and a put me up or twins plus z beds and cots too!

Le Thot – Lascaux

Situated 7 km from Montignac this centre is a valuable first stop before visiting the numerous prehistoric sites in the Périgord. The animals in the park at le Thot are similar in appearance to the species which lived in the wild in this region during the Upper Paleolithic Age and some of them are represented in the art of that time.
The animals in the park recall the species which lived in the wild in this region during the upper Palaeolithic Age and some of them are represented in the art of that time: Animals such as reindeer, the European bison, the aurochs, the Przewalski horses, the Tarpan horses, the ibex, the red deer and the fallow deer. There are also replicas of extinct species such as the mammoth and woolly rhinoceros.

Musee de la Mer de Biarritz - Biarritz

Biarritz Marine Museum is situated by the seashore, on top of the Rocher de la Vierge which dominates the waves. From the terrace of the Marine Museum you can watch this part of the coast, a wonderful landscape of the coast ripped by plenty of reefs and rocks.
The Maritime Museum with its aquariums with more 150 species Fauna and Flora of the Bay of Biscay. The Shark Cave (Face to face  with sharks of different species panoramic vision) , Hall of cetaceans (Castings and giant skeletons)  History of whaling, its collections and models of boats, fishing techniques etc

Font De Gaume – Les Eyzies-de-Tayac

Since its discovery in 1901, dozens of polychrome paintings have been found in the tunnel-like Grotte de Font-de-Gaume.  Stocks of artists’ materials have also been found: kilos of prepared pigments; palettes – stones stained with ground-up earth pigments; and wooden painting sticks. Painting was clearly a specialized, perhaps professional, business, reproduced in dozens and dozens of caves located in the central Pyrenees and areas of northern Spain. 

Be aware that tickets sell out fast and only two hundred people are allowed to tour the cave each day; advance booking, several days ahead in peak season, is essential.
