Over the last thirty-five years, the ASHOF has become the benchmark for other Sports Museums across the country, with over 5,000 sports artifacts elegantly displayed in the 33,000 square foot building. Out of ESPN’s list of the top 100 athletes of the century, five out of the top fifteen greatest ever are in the ASHOF: Jesse Owens, Hank Aaron, Joe Louis, Willie Mays, and Carl Lewis.

Birmingham Zoo - 2630 Cahaba Road

The Birmingham Zoo is Alabama’s most popular attraction, drawing more than 500,000 visitors annually. Approximately 750 animals of 250 species call the 122-acre Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, kangaroos and endangered species from six continents.

Ruffner Mountain Nature Center - 1214 81st Street South

Ruffner Mountain Nature Center is a 1,011 acre natural oasis located on one of the last undeveloped stretches of the Red Mountain ridge known as Ruffner Mountain. Just a 10 minute escape from downtown Birmingham, AL, feels like a world away. Enjoy a short stroll or explore the mountain for an all day adventure. Miles of peaceful forested trails with surprising biodiversity, wetlands teaming with wildlife, remnants of our past mining history, and spectacular views from several overlooks await those who venture out.

Rickwood Field - 1137 Second Avenue West

Built in 1910 for in the city’s then-professional baseball team, the Coal Barons, Rickwood Field is being restored to look the way it did in its 1940s heyday, all the way down to the hand-operated scoreboard. Wearing old-time uniforms, the Birmingham Barons play the annual Rickwood Classic. Baseball greats who played at Rickwood include Babe Ruth, Rogers Hornsby, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb and Birmingham’s own Burleigh Grimes, the last legal spitball pitcher in the big leagues. Rickwood was also home to the Birmingham Black Barons Negro League team, which brought the likes of Satchel Paige, Piper Davis and local teenage phenomenon Willie Mays to play here.

The Southern Museum of Flight - 4343-73rd Street North

The Southern Museum of Flight is dedicated to presenting civilian, military, and experimental aircraft and memorabilia from the earliest history of powered flight. The 68,000 square foot facility houses over 75 aircraft, as well as engines, models, artifacts, photographs, and paintings. In addition, the Southern Museum of Flight is home to the Alabama Aviation Hall of Fame with over 65 biographical plaques presenting Alabama aviation history through collective biography.

The Georgian Lodge in Bradford on Avon is approximately 12 miles away from Longleat and can sleep up to a family of 6!!

The Beeches Farmhouse in Bradford on Avon is approximately 12 miles away from Longleat, they have 2 inter-connecting rooms(Old Dairy & Cart House) that sleep up to 6 people. The rooms are not in the Farmhouse but in converted farmbuildings so guests enjoy privacy. Price includes breakfast.

With over 30 nuts rides, THORPE PARK is the place to get your adrenaline pumping!

Thorpe park do a family ticket for 4 with a saving of £18 and discounts for groups of 7 or more but unfortunately families of 5 or 6 miss out again, surprise, surprise.

Although we have no properties in Chertsey at the moment we do have properties near:

Cobham Lodge in Cobham is situated just 5 minutes from the M25.  It is only approx 9 miles from Thorpe Park.  It is also 35 minutes from Gatwick and just 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport, Cobham Lodge is a conveniently and perfectly positioned base for people catching next day flights or requiring an overnight stop.

Their family room can sleep up to 5 people and consists of a double bed, single bed and a pull out sofa.

The rest of the properties in Surrey on Room for 5 are in Horley, close to Gatwick Airport. These properties are approximately 3o miles from Thorpe Park.

At LEGOLAND® Windsor the entertainment is certainly hands-on. Children aged 3-12 can take to the road, soar through the skies and sail the seas in complete safety. With over 50 interactive rides, live shows, building workshops, driving schools and attractions, all set in 150 acres of beautiful parkland, LEGOLAND Windsor is a different sort of family theme park.

Again no family ticket available but they do have discounts for groups of 7 or more which is great for families of that size.

There are 3 properties on Room for 5 that can accommodate a family of 5 or more in Windsor:

Rainworth House which  is situated two miles from the town of royal Windsor. It is set in 3 acres of grounds and is surrounded by trees and open fields. It can sleep up to 5.

The Windsor Trooper is a classic public house perfectly located within a short walk of Windsor Castle and the town centre and can sleep up to 6!
They are fantastically located for Legoland – please ask about their package accomodation deals and save almost half price on the cost of your Legoland entrance tickets!

Bluebell House is an ex coaching Inn is situated between Windsor and Ascot and close to Bracknell and Maidenhead. They are a family friendly guest house and can offer a 2 bedroom family suite where they can accommodate 2 adults and 3 children.

How about the Porth Avallen Hotel in St Austell, it has a spectacular cliff top location and stunning 180″ sea view over St Austell Bay, The Porth Avallen Hotel is the ideal place to stay and explore Cornwall’s many attractions.. .

Why not try the Ocean Lodge in Newquay, it can sleep up to a whopping 8 people and is very reasonably priced. There is a minimum stay of two nights though.

The Quies Hotel in Newquay can sleep up to 7 in inter-connecting rooms and is again reasonable priced and only a 2 minute walk from Newquay town centre.
